Who we are
Spescare is a private Subacute hospital group focused on providing physical rehabilitation care treatments in a hospital setting. Spescare was founded to develop the sorely needed subacute healthcare services, throughout Southern Africa.
In ancient Roman history, the word “Spes” represented “Hope”. Therefore Spescare’s aim is to combine hope with care into our healthcare system. In order to do so, Spescare provides holistic and comprehensive care programs for the physical rehabilitation process.
Spescare is a member of the National Hospital Network, the Sub-Acute Hospital Association of South Africa and the Private Healthcare Information Standards Committee.
What we offer
Spescare provides a complete range of rehabilitation services. As a result of an accident, illness or injury patients may have physical or cognitive challenges, requiring specialist rehabilitation. If you or a loved one are suffering from any of the following, ask your specialist for a referral to Spescare.

What is a Sub-Acute hospital?
Essentially a subacute hospital is a hospital without theatres. Or in simpler words, a subacute is a hospital that acts as a bridge, transitioning patients from acute hospital care back to their homes. Therefore, patients who are stable, but still require nursing care or physical rehabilitation, can be transferred from an acute hospital to a subacute hospital like Spescare, before being discharged home.
